What is the Executive Committee?
In Bray School Project N.S the Patron is a lay association (Bray School Project Association, a Company Limited by Guarantee), membership of which is open to all who subscribe to the aims of the association, and carries a small annual fee. Every year, an AGM is held and an Executive Committee is elected by the members to carry out the duties of the patron.
The Patron is the legal owner of the school property and its role is to uphold and further the aims of the school. Members serve a one-year term. In the B.S.P the Executive is comprised of three officers and six ordinary members.

The Bray School Project Association – BSPA
The Bray School Project Association was established in 1981 to “develop, promote and support a child centred approach to education, co-education and multidenominational education run by management committees which would be democratic in character. This association built our school and developed the education and environment that our children enjoy today.
The Executive is the legal owner of the school property and its role is to uphold and further the aims and ethos of the school. Members serve a one-year term. In the B.S.P the Executive is comprised of three officers and six ordinary members. It appoints two members to the Board of Management.
The way you can ensure that the ethos that attracted you to this school is maintained is by nominating or becoming a member of the Executive Committee and taking part in voting on issues of the BSPA at its AGM or any other EGM.
To do this you must join on an annual basis. You do not have to be a parent of a school to become a member with voting powers – you may be simply someone who is interested in playing a role in maintaining the ethos of the school.
The BSP Association is the organisation that elects the schools’ Executive Committee and decides on many aspects of school policy at the annual general meeting of the association. Membership is open to anyone who supports the aims of the BSPA, which is to establish and maintain a national school in Bray that is:
- Child-Centred
- Co-educational
- Multi-denominational
- Democratically managed
Why is it important for me to join the BSPA?
The BSPA has the ultimate responsibility for deciding the schools’ policies in a number of crucial areas. The association, through its executive is responsible for
a) providing the school with its premises and looking after all major repairs and renovations
b) ensuring that the school maintains its multi-denominational character
In order to ensure that the schools’ Executive Committee reflects the genuine wishes of parents and is accountable to them, as many parents as possible should participate at the AGM.
How do I join?
Just fill in an application form, available from the school office, and accompany it with the annual subscription of €2 per household. People with children in the school may also pay via Aladdin.
