The children participated in a variety of activities as part of our Intercultural Fortnight Celebrations.

  • Silvestry, Annie and Susan taught Junior Infants and 5th class buddies how to play African games.
  • We would like to say a big thank you to Christine for coming in to talk to the children about Uruguay.
  • The class also enjoyed Lesley’s visit when she taught the children about Italy.
  • Thank you to June for visiting the class and teaching them about Switzerland also.
  • We met with the 5th class buddies and got to read Dual-Language books together.
  • In class the children learned about Sweden. They learned that the Dala horse is a symbol of Sweden. The children decorated their own paper Dala horses by drawing designs on them using oil pastels. They enjoyed looking at the different countries on a map of Europe and identifying the flags.             They also learned how to count from 1 – 10 in Swedish.
  • The highlight of the fortnight was when Junior Infants got to take part in the International Fair last Thursday. They got to see all the wonderful projects that had been completed by the senior classes and they tasted some foods from different countries!
  • The children also participated in a special Whole School Assembly last Friday marking the end of the Intercultural Fortnight.
